Materials & Care

I use genuine gemstones from around the world and the highest quality materials, including tarnish-resistant solid Sterling Silver and Gold-Filled metals.

Sterling Silver and Gold-Filled are both excellent materials for Jewelry and a great value!

Gold-Filled

I want to take a minute to demystify and explain Gold-Filled because it is one of the most misunderstood jewelry materials.
Gold-Filled is precision made by heat and pressure bonding an outside layer of gold to a base metal. The outer layer of 12K or 14K gold is what touches your skin. I use only the finest quality Gold-Filled materials made in the USA, assuring accurate and consistent quality.

With proper care Gold-Filled is a lifetime product for most people. Gold-filled materials do not wear off or chip. Gold plated contains only a microscopic film of gold, whereas Gold-filled contains a thick layer of 12k or 14k gold.

Enjoy the rich look of gold at a fraction of the cost! I have worked with Gold-Filled for over 25 years, and it is a beautiful, easy to care for material.

Sterling Silver

I use only the highest quality tarnish resistant Solid Sterling Silver, which has a higher content of Silver than traditional Sterling Silver. As a gift to you, each jewelry piece comes with an anti tarnish storage pouch. Keep your silver jewelry in the provided storage pouch or a sealed plastic bag to protect and keep your silver jewelry looking its best.

How to clean your new jewelry and keep it looking beautiful for years to come!

Congratulations on your new LauraGlen one-of-a-kind jewelry!

Below is a simple method for cleaning your new jewelry and keeping it looking beautiful for years to come.

I clean all of my Jewelry using the method below. This is an old silver-smiths' recipe, that is perfect for cleaning intricate wire jewelry. You can also gently use a jewelry polishing cloth.

1. Wash and rinse your silver jewelry with mild soap and water.

2 .Line a small bowl with a clean, fresh piece of aluminum foil, place jewelry on top.

3. Sprinkle about 1 to1-1/2 Tablespoons of baking soda over Jewelry.

4. Add about 1 to 1 1/2 cups of either Distilled* (preferred) or Filtered water heated to about 175 degrees F.

5. Gently stir the water for about 30 seconds, dissolving the baking soda.

6. Rinse the Jewelry.

7. Repeat if necessary.

*Tap water may contain minerals and chlorine that can leave a residue. Using Distilled or Filtered water will provide the best results.

**(Please note that this method is intended for cleaning any LauraGlen Jewelry, and is not recommended for cleaning any antiqued or patina jewelry as this method may reverse the antiquing.)
